you might be asking me why i wrote that as my title… here’s the thing: i’m just dreaming.

Just as I predicted. It’s still David Archuleta and David Cook in the end. I couldn’t decide whom to choose. obviously I like both considering that I once dreamt that David A was my boyfriend and everytime David C sings, I felt like he’s singing to and for me. LOL! Stupid, I know, but they do seriously have the best voice and originality amongst the singers for this latest season of American Idol. After the season that had Fantasia on it, AI never appealed again for me to watch it.

Actually, I think this season is the best one. My early favorites were Ramiele Malubay (of course, I’m bias! She’s Filipina. Why should I not like my own kind?), Brooke White, Jason Castro and Carly Smithson and I was so sad as they were one by one being booted out. Here are the reasons why I like them:

Ramiele.. simply because she’s Filipina. I don’t have to explain more. If she did win, I will not mind what other people will say about her. I know that there’s nothing distinctive about her voice and that I totally agree with simon cowell when he always emphasizes that she sings in such an old fashion way, I still think she’s okay. A few more years of formal training, she will be one heck of a singer. Do you notice that stage presence and charm she exudes when she sings? Even when she’s just being interviewed by ryan, she has that “thing” that separates her from other singers. What it is? I don’t know. I can’t explain it. I liked her version of heart’s alone. That song showed her capacity as a singer. And by the way, I may be making this up but I think ryan likes her. LOL! Ano magagawa ko no? pinay sya eh. Hindi ko kelangan mag-explain.

Carly Smithson… I just feel she really rocks. The songs total eclipse of my heart and come together… perfect! The whole package is just perfect! Once she gets hold of the microphone and starts singing, it’s like another persona comes out of nowhere.. sort of a dr. jeckel/mr. hyde type of scenario. I was quite surprised that she got booted out before syesha. Truthfully, I didn’t like syesha even from the start. She’s like a cat which refuses to die. And that smile… catlike… whhiiiiisssss….. ugh! Back to carly. She’s strong, she’s confident and I guess a rock star in the making. Don’t you think she has that star factor?

Jason Castro… I find him a little elitist with that college kid aura…you know, the one that goes for clean fun but still finds a way to excel in an effortless manner… cool but shy.. but I have to remind myself now that I have to say something about his singing! I think everything fell in the right places when he sang hallelujah and somewhere over the rainbow. By then I can picture him as a hippie surrendering to destiny. Whew! Wrong choice though when he chose to sing bob marley’s songs. He could have done better in choosing the right songs for him to sing. I still hated the fact that he was the first one to go before syesha.

Brooke White… I guess she’s a true musician… a true artist. If only the 2 guys were not that cute, she could have won. Let it be and you’re so vain were my favorites. I actually believed that she could have reached the top 3. again, I have to say that she’s better than syesha. Isn’t it obvious now that I don’t like syesha? Anyway, I won’t be surprised if she’ll go a thousand miles more than where she is now. I like the quality of her voice… it’s strong and full of passion. The maturity is there too. I guess a few more stints and she’ll be that whole thing.. she will be seasoned enough to be promoted as a professional artist.

Ahhhh… my 2 davids… how can I ever, ever compare you with each other? One is a true balladeer and the other one, a perfect rock star. Both of them have beautiful voices…now I find myself speechless. LOL! I’m sure you heard david A’s you’re the voice and stand by me. Wow! Yeah, baby, I’ll stand by you. I’m sure in a few years we will find him in the same level as Michael Bolton or Michael mcdonald… as for David C… I’m also sure you all heard his version of Mariah carey’s always be my baby. Wow again! That was when I thought he’s a good musician; very original and very nice arrangement. And hey, how about that hello of Lionel Richie… my jaw dropped! I thought he was singing for me.

Now I’ve really gone speechless. I can’t afford to compare both of them because they are both excellent artists. I have to call them artists because they really have everything that constitutes an artist; very good voices, both have that maturity in terms of handling the songs.. they control the songs, not the other way around… and they both have that charm that you just can’t resist.

Realistically speaking, I think david cook will bring the bacon home as this season’s American idol. Though I know I said they both have great voices, popularity-wise and originality-wise, he just got them. I don’t mean that david archuleta isn’t popular.. he actually got the most impressive vocals but david cook did hit the spot when he did always be my baby… I think that was actually the plus, plus in everything. That performance is already tattooed in everybody’s mind. Simon Cowell always reiterates that some performances are just forgettable. David cook might have taken that by heart and reminded himself that everything should be not forgettable. simon cowell also said that AI should be a talent competition rather than a popularity competition. i just have to disagree. it has to be both, otherwise, it wil not succeed… so by saying that, my guess is that david cook will be this season’s american idol.

personally, I don’t know… for me, both of them are winners already. Can’t they share the same crown? Pleaassssssssseeeee…. Let them sing for me… one to serenade me and the other one to assure me.. of course, everything is just wishful thinking….

I really can’t wait for the finale… I just have to see those final performances… mwah mwah to my two davids… LOL! Sing for me, okay? LOL! you are both winners already in my eyes.
